Comics & Medical Illustrators

Comics and Medicine Conference 2012 at the University of Toronto

Illuminate Conference 2012 – Annually hosted by the Association of Medical Illustrators at Toronto Delta Chelsea Hotel

Last month was a busy month for medical illustrators. A comics and medicine conference followed by the Illuminate conference hosted annually by the Association of Medical Illustrators. I went to both as much my work schedule permitted. During that time I didn’t start my masters yet so I literally threw myself into the pool of prominent illustrators hoping I wouldn’t drown. I think the perk of being attending these types of conferences is that everything looks extremely¬†aesthetically¬†pleasing. A wonderland for my eyes. That and almost everyone in the room draws or doodles in their sketchbook. It was an incredible sight since doodling would normally seem rude cause others think you’re bored to death. I think I’ve found my niche!!

University Woes

It’s finally the last stretch of exams of my undergraduate career. Though,¬† I’m finding it harder than ever to stay in shape and healthy. The amount of sitting that is required to memorize pathways after pathways is grueling and being pumped full of caffeine each day definitely doesn’t help. I’ve managed to take brisk walks around King’s College Circle during breaks before I go fetch my coffee. Take the longer route to the building/library’s washroom. Refill my water bottle just to climb up and down the stairs more often. End off the day with a good one hour workout. Yeah, you might think I’m a bit crazy putting so much thought into where I can burn a calorie or two but it certainly helps. Summer is just around the corner (in two weeks for me) so I definitely want a head start at being beach-ready! Speaking of summer, I haven’t really thought about my graduation trip for myself. Maybe a trip across Canada to Vancouver from Toronto? Visit the maritime? Maybe somewhere tropical but I think it’d be nice to see what breathtaking views Canada has to offer for once. Suggestions?
